An individual who spiked sweets with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys who were between nine and ten.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on recently.

Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

The defendant was held in detention ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.

'Candy game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he operated.

Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in July 2025.

The prosecutor added: "Recently" his family member had concerns about the situation, for good reason.

"They decided to examine in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC said objects including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his concerns.

She said the defendant went on to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.

"The police had not gone out by that point," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.

She stated the man then played the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
