19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
